Film Fest Petaluma

Now on its 10th year, Film Fest Petaluma will be celebrating its annual showcase of short films at the historic Mystic Theater in downtown Petaluma. Featuring a broad mix of animated, live action, and documentary shorts, all sessions will host international filmmakers in conversation alongside several Sonoma County students. Each program will also feature filmmakers as they share their experiences with the audience. Enjoy over 30 short films in a day of cultural appreciation!

Matsuri! Japanese Arts Festival

Sunday, May 6 at 11 AM to 5 PM

Now celebrating its ninth year, Matsuri! has become one of the signature cultural festivals in the North Bay. Organized by Sonoma County Matsuri, their goal is to offer deep insights into Japanese culture by providing a forum for Bay Area artisans, artists, and performers of Japanese traditional arts to showcase their talents. There is fun to be had for all at this annual showcase of Japanese arts! Taiko drumming, traditional Japanese dance and music, martial arts demonstrations, Kyogen theater performance, Tea Ceremony, children’s activity booth and mochitsuki (the pounding of sweet rice into cakes using a wooden mallet), and a variety of exhibitors and vendors featuring Japanese arts, crafts, and food.
