Join Placewares in celebrating the opening of Amir Zaki: Formal Matter in the gallery. Opening reception happens this Saturday, September 1, and the exhibit will be on display through November 11. Amir Zaki is a practicing artist living in Southern California. Formal Matter features images of large coastal outcrops titled ‘Rocks’ and 3D-based images of wood carvings titled ‘Carvings.’ The Rock photographs of coastal outcrops are all made along the California coast, ranging from Orange County to Mendocino County. Immerse yourselft in Zaki's beautifully contemporary work, which is part of numerous public and private collections across the country, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, UCLA Hammer Museum, the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle, Washington, the Orange County Museum of Art, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Artisans Day in Bodega

Now on it's 22nd year, join the Artisans' Co-op in Bodega as they continue to celebrate the arts during their annual Artisan's Day. There will be artist demonstrations, a gallery wide sale, a free raffle to win local art, and you get a chance to meet and greet the artisans themselves! Watch a potter make a vase on a potters wheel. See a fiber artist spin yarn from local sheep wool. Jewelers will be creating treasures from sand dollars and precious metals. The best part? The entire gallery will be on sale to celebrate their 22 years!
